Call for Proposals

2019 Season - Call for Proposals

We are now seeking proposals from ensembles who wish to perform on our 2019 concert series.

SoHIP's mission is to promote and enrich public appreciation and understanding of historically informed performance of early music in New England, and to support the development of new projects and ensembles with ties to the region. We seek to support New England artists by providing quality performance opportunities, and New England audiences by introducing them to emerging local talent.

The 2019 series will begin in mid June and run through the end of July, or early August. Each selected ensemble will perform on the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings of one week, at locations in Lincoln, Andover, and Boston. Each performer will be paid $300, for up to 8 people per ensemble, for the week.

Performers should be ready to collaborate with SoHIP in promoting the concert series. If you are also planning to perform at the Boston Early Music Festival, please submit a different program to SoHIP.

Proposals are due Friday, February 1, 2019

A complete proposal should include:

  1. The name of the ensemble and a list of members for your proposed program. Please indicate a contact person and his or her phone number, address, and email address. All performers must be legally able to work in the US.

  2. The title and a description of your proposed program, including your reasons for creating it.

  3. Representative selections, composers, dates, and instrumentation for your proposed program.

  4. A brief history of your ensemble including a few words about each member.

  5. If your ensemble is not based in New England, please include a short statement of your connection to the region.

  6. An indication of which of the following weeks your ensemble is available: June 18-20, June 25-27, July 2-4, July 9-11; July 16-18; July 23-25; July 30-Aug 1; Aug 6-8. Although each group will perform only one week, it is essential that you provide options for at least two available weeks in order to facilitate scheduling.

  7. A high-quality recording of your ensemble, not to exceed 10 minutes. The music on the recording should be representative of your concert proposal, although the exact works do not need to be included. It is highly desirable that the performers on your recording are the ones who will play in your concert. Please include a track and personnel listing. ACCEPTED FORMATS: CD, MP3, MP4, WAV.

Electronic submissions should be in PDF format, and all material sent via email, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Please do not send a link to material on your website.
